This bra was first conceived as a show piece for Katy Marks to wear in our Diversity of the breast catwalk show in 2019. I’d been making lots of different prototypes with input from Katy to explore ideas mostly using jersey fabrics with one strap and strong wide compression bands. The ruched luxe satin design evolved from my emerald green silk mermaid bra. I made the first ruched satin flat side bra in chartreuse silk for Anna Versteeg from the Bbook project after we were talking about mermaid’s magical garments and how something beautiful to wear can be like a balm.
